Cumbia is one of the great musical languages of Latin America. Not necessarily because it is the most commercial genre - but because it is the most adaptable, migratory and culturally expansive. From Colombia to Mexico, Peru, Chile, Argentina and beyond, every territory has transformed cumbia into its own local expression. Over decades, cumbia has evolved and fused with electronic music, dub, hip-hop, psychedelia and experimental sound design - creating entirely new movements and avant-garde scenes across Latin America and the global underground. It is music constantly in motion.
