Jan Galach

Jan Gałach (born July 7, 1984 in Katowice, Poland) is a Polish violinist, composer and music arranger. He is also a true fan and a silent ambassador of The Allman Brothers Band in Poland. Apart from playing in his own band, he cooperates with Polish renowned artists: Dżem, Martyna Jakubowicz, Maciej Balcar. A four-time winner of the "Instrumentalist of the Year" title granted by the readers of "Twój Blues" ("Your Blues") Magazine (in 2007, 2010, 2012, 2013,2014,2015 and 2016). His band Jan Gałach Band won twice in the "Band of the Year" category (in 2013 and 2014). "It's a real pleasure to look at musicians like Jan Gałach... He is only 29 - in the blues music it's a very, very young age - but it didn't stop him from playing at numerous Polish and international festivals, being widely awarded, not even mentioning his cooperation with a great number of album recordings. He graduated from the Karol Szymanowski State School of Music in Katowice, Poland. As a fifteen-year old boy he started attending blues workshops organized in the Leśniczówka Club. Since 2002 he has been a successful organizer of a very popular "Holiday Concert with Jan Gałach & Friends". In 2002 Gałach started his cooperation with the Acoustic Travel band, giving gigs in the streets and in clubs all over Poland. They have worked together ever since; their cooperation resulted in recording two studio albums. Meanwhile, Jan started playing as a session musician and recording solos for many musicians and bands, including Koniec Świata, Highway and Joanna Pilarska. From 2005 to 2008 he co-worked with the Cocotier band and gave concerts at many street festivals in Europe (Italy, Austria, Switzerland and more). In 2006 this talented violinist and composer started his collaboration with Martyna Jakubowicz. He found his place in the settled concert line-up. He also recorded two studio albums with the Jakubowicz band (in 2008 and 2010). In the meantime Jan formed his own band "Osły" ("The Donkeys"); they took part in many renowned festivals in Poland and abroad and recorded an album called The Donkeys - „Live in Studio”. In 2006 he started cooperating with the Schau Pau Acoustic Blues, they recorded an album together later the same year. 2007 is the year of extended music activity, resulting in the first award from the "Twój Blues" ("Your Blues") Magazine. At the beginning of 2009, Gałach moves to London, where he plays in numerous jam sessions in local clubs and appears onstage alongside many local artists. After returning to Poland, Gałach organizes the First National Allman Brothers Band Fan Jamboree which turns out to be a huge success in the Leśniczówka club. Together with his band Osły (The Donkeys) he plays a number of tracks of the ABB band. In 2010 he makes a guest appearance at the "Blues Dziewięciu" album by Arek Zawiliński and the "Fishdick Zwei" album by Acid Drinkers. From time to time he plays with Martyna Jakubowicz and takes part in the studio recordings of "Okruchy życia" album by Żona Lota band. Apart from that, he accepts the invitation of Sebastian Riedel and his band Cree to perform at a concert organized to celebrate the fifteenth anniversary of the band's stage work. 2011 is the year of forming The Jan Gałach Band performing in Poland and abroad. In 2013 Gałach releases his first authorial album „Jan Gałach and Friends”. In the fall he makes a guest performance with Planet of The Abts band (Gov’t Mule section). At the beginning of 2014, together with his band, Gałach takes part in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, gaining great reviews. He makes a guest recording of "Orla" by Kasa Chorych and Śląska Grupa Bluesowa (the Silesian Blues Band). In June he performs with Dżem at their 35th anniversary concert. In the fall he begins collaborating with Dżem during acoustic concerts. Near the end of 2014 he accepts the invitation of Leszek Winder to take part in the authorial Czarny Pies (The Black Dog) project. 2015 starts with the release of the Maciej Balcar solo album, where Gałach records the violin parts. K. Szymanowskiego w Katowicach. W wieku 7 lat rozpoczął naukę w szkole muzycznej. Multiinstrumentalista grający przede wszystkim na skrzypcach, ale równie dobrze radzi sobie z cajonem czy gitarą. Jako 15-latek zaczął uczęszczać na warsztaty bluesowe organizowane w klubie Leśniczówka,w którym od 2002 roku organizuje cyklicznie cieszący się wielkim powodzeniem „Koncert Świąteczny czyli Jan Gałach i Przyjaciele”. W 2002 roku rozpoczął współpracę z zepołem Acoustic Travel koncertującym na ulicach i klubach w całej Polsce. Współpraca z zespołem zaowocowała nagraniem dwóch studyjnych płyt i trwa do dnia dzisiejszego. W tym czasie Jan zaczął udzielać się sesyjne i dogrywać partie solowe dla wielu wykonawców i zespołów m.in. Koniec Świata, Highway czy Joanna Pilarska. Lata 2005-2008 to współpraca z zespołem Cocotier i koncerty na wielu festiwalach ulicznych w Europie (m.in. Włochy, Austria, Szwajcaria). Od 2006 roku skrzypek rozpoczął stałą współpracę z Martyną Jakubowicz. Znalazł miejsce w stałym składzie koncertowym oraz brał udział w nagraniu dwóch płyt studyjnych w 2008 i 2010 roku. W międzyczasie zakłada własny zespół „Osły” z którym występuje na znaczących festiwalach w Polsce i za granicą oraz nagrywa płytę The Donkeys - „Live in Studio”. W 2006 roku rozpoczyna współpracę z zespołem Schau Pau Acoustic Blues. Tego samego roku nagrywa z nimi płytę live. Rok 2007 to coraz szersza działalność muzyczna czego efektem jest pierwsza wygrana w ankiecie kwartalnika „Twój Blues”. Z początkiem 2009 r. Gałach wyjeżdża do Londynu. W tym czasie uczęszcza na liczne jam session w lokalnych klubach oraz koncertuje z lokalnymi muzykami. Po powrocie do kraju organizuje I Ogólnopolski Zlot Fanów The Allman Brothers Band, który wypełnia „Leśniczówkę” po brzegi. Razem z zespołem „Osły” wykonuje wybrane utwory z twórczości zepołu ABB. W 2010 roku gościnnie pojawia się na płycie „Blues Dziewięciu” Arka Zawilińskiego oraz „Fishdick Zwei” Acid Drinkers. Okazjonalnie występuje u boku Martyny Jakubowicz i bierze udział w nagraniach studyjnych na płycie „Okruchy życia” formacji Żona Lota. Zostaje również zaproszony przez Sebastiana Riedla i Cree na gościnny występ z okazjii 15-sto lecia istnienia zespołu. 2011 rok to powstanie zespołu The Jan Gałach Band z którym koncertuje w kraju i za granicą. W 2013 roku Gałach wydaje swoją pierwszą autorską płytę „Jan Gałach and Friends”. Jesienią zostaje zaproszony na gościnny występ grupy Planet of The Abts (sekcja Gov’t Mule). Początek roku 2014 to wyjazd z własnym zespołem na International Blues Challenge w Memphis gdzie dostaje świetne recenzje.Nagrywa gościnnie z Kasą Chorych płytę „Orla” oraz „Kolory Bluesa” ze Śląską Grupą Bluesową . W czerwcu gościnnie występuje z grupą Dżem z okazji 35-cio lecia istnienia zespołu. Jesienią tego samego roku rozpoczyna współpracę z Dżemem w ramach koncertów akustycznych. Pod koniec roku 2014 zostaje zaproszony przez Leszka Windera do autorskiego projektu Czarny Pies. Z początkiem 2015 roku została wydana kolejna płyta autorska Macieja Balcara gdzie Gałach dogrywał partie skrzypiec oraz uczestniczył w promującej tą płytę trasie koncertowej.
