Behala, ofcourse predates Kolkata I am told and here-in lies the stories of the Birth of Kolkata. So, lets embrak on some Museum hopping with a difference. 🔟*.30am* : Meet @ Kalighat Metro (Gate no. to be specified in subgroup) *Only for those opting for Pick-up / Drop, travel assistance* [₹550/- extra] *OR* 1️⃣1️⃣*am* : Meet @ Taratala Axis Bank (Opp Petrol Pump) ⏩ Start for 1️⃣st *Stop* 🏫*State Archeological Museum* 🏤 🪆Founded in 1962, it has collections including rare tools of the Early, Middle & the Late Stone Ages from Susunia (Bankura) & other sites, proto-historic antiquities from Pandu Rajar Dhibi (Burdwan), terracottas, sculptures, stone & stucco from the Gupta, Maurya, Shunga, Kushana, Pala & Medieval times. 👻🍴Early Lunch @ *Bhooter Raja Dilo Bor*🍽 🎎Menu / Thali to decide & pay accordingly @restaurant🍗 ⏩ Start for 2️⃣nd *Stop* 🖼️*Sabarna Sangrohoshala* 🙌🏽 The museum is about the Sabarna Roy Choudhury family, the original jagirdars of the Dokkhin Chobbish Porgona, who had transferred by lease their rights over 3 villages to the East India Company, thereby creating Kolkata. 🕵🏼♀️During the *Walk*, we will cover existing structures, Mandirs 🛕, possibly the *3 ⚧️ Baris of Sabarna Poribar*, enjoy the historical stories of the city's গোড়াপত্তন. We shall witness the photo gallery too. 🏢*Alipore Jail Museum*🕍 The Alipore Jail Central Jail, was a prison in Alipore, where political prisoners were kept under British rule, among them Netaji. It also housed the Alipore Jail Press. It is no longer in operation as a jail, having been shut down on February 20, 2019 & gives us a peep as a Museum. This 116 year old building, is on the Grade I list of heritage site.
