But now it is a superstar in the western world, as a cooking spice, as a coveted seed for its anti-inflammatory and sugar-lowering properties, and as a great ingredient for making chutneys, aachar, dahl. Its uses are exploited today around the world. Dr. Dilip will take us through a journey of botany, cultural uses, and how the medicinal chemistry world swooped in on it to make it a great dietary supplement. He will also delve into import-export of herbs. ---------------------------------- Dilip Ghosh, PhD is a specialist in the medicinal chemistry of plants, especially those from India, and has been affiliated with universities around the world to contribute his knowledge. He trained in biomedical science and tropical medicine from University of Calcutta and then completed a post-doctoral fellowship from Tufts University in Boston. With extensive collaboration with the Ministry of AYUSH in India, he is an international speaker, facilitator, author and consultant to herbal companies through his company Nutriconnect in Sydney, Australia. He has published more than 100 papers in peer reviewed journals and is author of 14 books with Academic Press & CRC Press focusing on medicinal plants, including one on Neurocognition, one on Ashwagandha and one on Fenugreek. He is a recipient of the 2022-23 IASTAM-Zandu Oration Award. IN 2024, he was selected as a Consultant to WHO-Global Traditional Medicine Centre.
