Culture Utopias 2024 | double residency in Bucharest and Wrocław under "What's next?" project Bucharest, June 3 - 30, 2024 Wroclaw, 15 August - 15 September, 2024 DEADLINE for submissions: December 5, 2023 Application form: [https://bit.ly/Culture_Utopia_residency_application_form] 🟢 Do you have the courage and curiosity to reflect on the new realities of today's Europe? Are you interested in discussing a vision of the future cultural world in which we would like to live, despite problems, crisis and borders? Apply for the double residency, which aims to create a shared and courageous space of action in 2024, where people from the cultural and arts sector can reflect on the challenges Europe has faced in the last decade 🟢 Offered jointly by Gabriela Tudor Foundation (Bucharest), Wroclaw Institute of Culture (Wroclaw) and proto produkciia (Kyiv), the double residency is open for a diverse range of participants - artists, researchers, cultural professionals who are citizens and nationals of Romania, Poland or Ukraine. Are you interested in meaningful connections, being capable of critical reflections and being optimistic to the future? JOIN THE PROJECT! This residency aims to create a physical space for exchange and collaboration but also enable meaningful encounters of ideas, artists, cultural professionals and people by creating a platform of reflection on (post)war and (post)catastrophe in Europe but also an incubation of new ideas towards European multidisciplinary collaborations. Dance makers, visual/video artists, cultural researchers, curators in connection with audience/local communities are invited together in a collective co-authorship process, slow-down its activity and allow time for reflection, exploring and interviewing the emotions and memories, developing potentially participatory practices, creating a context for peer-to-peer learning and sharing practices but also empowering and connecting arts and culture to the society. Double residency in Bucharest and Wroclaw wants to propose a new model of slow collaboration with an important interdisciplinary and cross-sectorial component adapted to the post-pandemic, and hopefully, post-war context in Ukraine. Thus, the residence is addressing collaboration, innovation, reflection and research as the objective of this specific call. WHO CAN APPLY? Polish, Romanian and Ukrainian adults with a communicative command of English (written and spoken). Applications are particularly welcome from artists working in the fields of dance, visual arts, curatorial and activist work, as well as those representing the broader cultural and artistic community and research. Priority will be given to participants with a child/family member (extra-fee of 250 Euro will be offered) or/and mid-career (over 40 years age) also with a specific interest to cross-sectorial/participatory approach. The participants are not required to propose a specific project for the residency, however, during the first residency, the participants will need to develop/work on a collective artistic project. SCHEDULE OF THE RESIDENCY: I. slot in Bucharest, 3 - 30.07.2024 (residency at AREAL - space for choreographic development) II. slot in Wrocław, 15.08 - 15.09, 2024 (residency at the Wrocław Institute of Culture) III. final presentation of What's Next?, Ukraine, 2024 (the effects of the developed final project will be presented at the final residency in Wrocław, and if the situation allows, at the final event of the project What's Next? in Ukraine in November 2024) WHAT DO WE OFFER: - travel by train/bus from the participants' cities to Bucharest & Wroclaw, and Ukraine. - accommodation in a shared rented apartment with own room. - fee of 1500 Euro (brutto, including per diems) for the residency in Bucharest - fee of 1000 Euro (brutto, including per diems) for the residency in Wroclaw and artistic materials and equipment available in the residence premises. - travel, accommodation and per diem support for the presentation of the results in Ukraine in November 2024 (tbc, depending on the war situation); - an additional 500 Euro will be paid in case of the participation with a family member (to cover baby sitting costs, food allowance or travel) for both residency; - coaching & mentorship support in Bucharest and Wroclaw. - space for discussions, meeting, rehearsals and research - 8 hours/day; - local cultural & well-being program - optional, depending on the participants needs.
