O P E N C A L L | K O Š I C E | S L O V A K I A [pl poniżej] Culture Zone Wrocław in cooperation with KAIR Kosice Artist in Residence invites visual or interdisciplinary artists from Wroclaw and Lower Silesia to take part in the seven-weeks residency in Košice, Slovakia. 👁‍🗨 We are searching for a visual or interdisciplinary artist from Wroclaw and Lower Silesia, who would like to deal with the theme of Interconnectedness which highlights the need for contemporary society to be aware of its links with the environment beyond its own region, state or nation, but also beyond the human species. On the one hand, it is the impact of rich regions on developing countries on environmental, economic and political issues. On the other hand, focusing on anthropocentric humanism leads to the creation of a line between human and animal. The artistic project that we will select through the open call should reflect some of the related issues through the visual art or its overlap into scientific disciplines, sound art, new media or performance: ▪ What do we need to do to ensure the rights of all, including animals? ▪ What can we do to protect this generation and the next generation? ▪ How should we consider setting up personal values? ▪ How should government, institutions, law or international relations respond? At the same time, we are also interested in the individual experience and emotional impact - fear and anxiety, ecological grief, etc. Only individuals are eligible to apply for the residency. Deadline: 20/09/2020 Results until: 28/09/2020 Residency period: 2/11-20/12/2020 Vacancies: 1 WHOM DO WE INVITE? The call is open to visual or interdisciplinary artists from Wroclaw and Lower Silesia. WHAT DO WE PROVIDE? • residency in Košice(Eastern Slovakia) 2.11 - 20.12.2020; • accommodation and studio; • artist fee in the amount of EUR 600,00 gross monthly; • coverage of travel expenses (one time return, most favorable connection) max. EUR 200 in total; • production budget in the amount of EUR200 gross; • production and promotional support for the project. WHAT DO WE EXPECT FROM AN ARTIST? • participation during the Open Studios Night to introduce himself/herself to the local audience; • one individual presentation or workshop during the residency; • final presentation/exhibition at the end of the residency; • compulsory attendance. HOW TO APPLY? Applications should include following documents and be prepared in English: ▪ applicant's CV with basic informations (name, address, email, website); • portfolio with selected works (max. 10 pages); • cover letter including applicant's motivation to participate in the residency and the ideas/ topics working with during the project (max. 1 page). Košice Artist in Residence zapraszają interdyscyplinarnych artystów wizualnych z Wrocławia i Dolnego Śląska do wzięcia udziału w dwumiesięcznej rezydencji w Koszycach na Słowacji. Projekt ten koncentruje się na pojęciu wzajemnych powiązań (z ang. Interconnectedness) człowieka i środowiska, sięgających poza konkretny region, państwo czy narodowość. Zwraca również uwagę na związek ludzi z innymi gatunkami. Zachęcamy do nadsyłania prac, które zarówno odwołują się do tych kwestii jak i odpowiadają między innymi na pytania: ▪ W jaki sposób chronić prawa wszystkich gatunków, w tym zwierząt? ▪ Co możemy zrobić, aby chronić obecne i przyszłe pokolenia? ▪ Jak powinien reagować rząd, instytucje i prawo międzynarodowe? Projekt artystyczny, który zostanie wybrany, może łączyć sztuki wizualne z innymi dziedzinami np. naukami przyrodniczymi, sound artem, nowymi mediami czy performansem. CO OFERUJEMY? • siedmiotygodniowy pobyt w Koszycach we wschodniej Słowacji*; • zakwaterowanie i studio; • honorarium 600 € / miesięcznie; • pokrycie kosztów podróży (jednorazowy powrót, najkorzystniejsze połączenie) max. łącznie 200 €; • koszty materiałów max. łącznie 200 €; • wsparcie produkcyjne i promocyjne. CZEGO OCZEKUJEMY OD APLIKUJĄCEGO? ▪ udział w Open Studios Night w celu przedstawienia się miejscowej publiczności; ▪ indywidualna prezentacja lub warsztat podczas rezydencji; ▪ końcowa prezentacja/wystawa na zakończenie rezydencji.
