O V E R D U E T I M E O F F | O P E N C A L L [pl below] Are you a foreign artists living in Poland? Take an Overdue Time Off in August! Culture Zone Wrocław invites foreign artists living or currenltly staying in Poland to participate in a month-long residency in Wroclaw. In the current crisis situation, we must remember about the physical and mental wellbeing of foreign artists who are in Poland, sometimes against their will and without any form of structural support. The eponymous "overdue time off" refers to the still prevalent perception of not recognising artistic creation as a full-fledged professional work, which particularly affects people invited to participate in the project. A four-week residency in Wrocław will be an opportunity to address your own needs: to create, think, be on your own or meet with others, catch up on old work or relax, meditate, allow yourself to be bored - all that contributes to human wellbeing. It will be a time free from any predetermined obligations, such as the need to create an artistic work, prepare an exhibition, present your practice - the perfect getaway from reality. It will be the resident who decides how to spend the time and to what extent the residency will be "filled with art." Deadline: 1-30/06/2020 Results by: 15/07/2020 Date of residency: 1-31/08/2020 WHOM DO WE INVITE? We accept applications from FOREIGN ARTISTS permanently or temporarily living in Poland, and those who for some reason cannot currently leave the country. WHAT DO WE PROVIDE? Selected applicant will receive: ▪ accommodation in Wrocław in apartment in the very city center, ▪ PLN 5,000 gross remuneration, ▪ refund of travel expenses to and from Wrocław, ▪ organisation of an outdoor artist talk, ▪ if possible and if the resident wishes - meetings with representatives of Wrocław cultural community, ▪ support from the employees of Culture Zone Wrocław. HOW TO APPLY? To apply for the project, please send, in Polish or in English: ▪ CV or bio (up to 1,500 characters with spaces); ▪ portfolio (file in .pdf format, maximum 10 pages); ▪ statement on 1,500 - 2,000 characters with spaces relating to the topic of the residency, "Overdue Time Off" (you can answer these questions: Why do you want to participate in the residency? How do you perceive the topic of overdue time off? What is your opinion on the relationship between creative time and leisure time or work-life balance? Have you already dealt with this topic in your past activities? Strefa Kultury Wrocław zaprasza artystów zagranicznych mieszkających w Polsce lub tymczasowo przebywających w Polsce do udziału w miesięcznej rezydencji (sierpień) we Wrocławiu. W tak trudnym, wręcz kryzysowym momencie, warto zwrócić uwagę na zdrowie, kondycję i dobrostan twórców zagranicznych znajdujących się w trudnej sytuacji bez wsparcia systemowego lub przebywających w Polsce wbrew własnym planom. Tytułowy „zaległy urlop" odnosi się do wciąż aktualnego problemu nieuznawania twórczości artystycznej jako pracy zawodowej, co szczególnie dotyka osoby zaproszone do udziału w projekcie. Miesięczna rezydencja we Wrocławiu jest możliwością zwrócenia się ku własnym potrzebom: tworzenia, refleksji, samotności, spotkań, nadrabiania zaległości lub/i odpoczynku, relaksu, medytacji, nudy - wszystkiego temu, co służy świętemu spokojowi. Czas nieuwikłany w żadne z góry określone powinności np. konieczność stworzenia pracy artystycznej, realizacji wystawy, prezentacji swoich dokonań ma pełnić rolę odskoczni od rzeczywistości. To rezydent decyduje na co tak naprawdę chce poświęcić swój czas oraz w jakim stopniu i w jaki sposób rezydencja będzie „przepełniona sztuką".
